In a joint effort to maintain public order, the Gautam Buddh Nagar police conducted a day-long operation and took action against 670 people for consuming alcohol in public places in Noida and Greater Noida, officials said on Sunday.

On Saturday, a “street security operation” was launched in all three police districts of the district on the instructions of Commissioner of Police Lakshmi Singh.

“A total of 4,630 people were checked during the operation in three areas of Noida, Central Noida and Greater Noida and 670 people were booked under Section 290 (public nuisance) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code),” the police said. action.

Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vidya Sagar Mishra, Noida district police conducted checks at 46 locations, including VDS Market Sector 51, Haridarshan Chowki Sector 12 and several village areas.

“A total of 1,807 people were checked and 221 violators were booked in Noida district,” the official said.

In the central region, where the campaign was monitored by DCP Suniti, police inspected 28 locations such as areas near Yakubpur Tiraha and NSEZ liquor shops.

“They checked 1,860 people and 258 of them were booked under Section 290,” the spokesman said.

DCP Saad Miya Khan led the operation in Greater Noida covering 33 locations including Ansal Square and Pari Chowk and out of 963 people checked, 191 were arrested for creating public nuisance, the official added. and was placed under investigation.
