Popular actress and TV host turned fashion designer, Mandira Bedi got married to the love of her life, Raj Kaushal, on February 14, 1999. He was named Vir. Later, they adopted a 4-year-old baby girl and named her Tara Bedi Kaushal. Everything was going well until June 30, 2021, when Mandira lost her husband to cardiac arrest.

Mandira Bedi recalls struggles adopting daughter Tara

In a recent conversation with Humanity Mumbai, Mandira Bedi opened up about the struggles she faced while adopting her daughter Tara. The gorgeous actress mentioned that she and her husband Raj Kaushal had to do a lot of paperwork to finally adopt their daughter amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Talking about the same, Mandira said:

“I wanted to have a second child and adopt. When my son, Will, was about six, I filed adoption papers. It was a long process and I didn’t know why it wasn’t easier. I mean, I understood the part reasons, but it should be easier when it’s made clear that this is a good family. Some time later, when Veer was nine, the epidemic hit, and I told Raj, “This hasn’t happened yet. Why?” Already stuck and not doing much to follow through, I thought, it’s time to lose, let’s move on.

Mandira Bedi talks about her adopted daughter Tara’s luck

In the same conversation, Mandira discussed the luck of her adopted daughter Tara. Sharing the experience of the little girl having never been in a car before, Mandira mentioned that due to the ongoing global pandemic, they had to fly their daughter Tara from Jabalpur to Mumbai on a private jet. Elaborating that Mandira’s meeting with Tara was all down to luck, she shared:

“This is maktoob… for a girl who has never been in a car before, she travels on a private jet. That’s Nasib, Kismat. We wouldn’t use private jets, but flying commercially is too dangerous because COVID-19 is at its peak. This is the most practical solution at the time.

However, in the same conversation, Mandira mentioned that when they finally brought Tara home, their son Veer was found crying. It is mentioned that at the age of six, Will longed to be an older brother to his sister, but at the age of nine, he began to lose interest. Later, the relationship between the two children became closer and closer, forming a lovely brother-sister relationship. In Mandira’s words:

“I felt so overwhelmed because a little person came into our lives and everything was going to change. Veer was crying and so was I. When we got to the airport, this little girl in a plastic cap came with Raj .She was so young. It took her some time to settle into the family and Veer started to like her.
