Apple reportedly plans to skip the M3 chipset in the new iPad Pro in favor of the upcoming artificial intelligence (AI)-powered M4. It’s been less than a year since the Cupertino-based tech giant launched the M3 series of chipsets and added them to the iMac, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. However, a report claims that the company may end its chipset journey and switch to the M4 chipset, which features a new more powerful Neural Engine that will enhance its artificial intelligence vision.
according to a Report Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in his Power On newsletter that Apple may launch an M4-powered iPad Pro at its “Let Loose” event on May 7. The report further highlights that the unannounced processor may be equipped with a new neural engine, which will give it enough power to run the calculations of artificial intelligence functions. The company is also said to be billing the device as its “first truly artificial intelligence-powered device.”
I believe this year’s new iPad Pro will be significantly upgraded. It is rumored to use an OLED display, thinner bezels, and have “glossy and matte screen versions.” It also supports MagSafe wireless charging. For optics, it is likely to come with an improved rear camera module and a lateral front-facing camera. The new Apple Pencil is also expected to be unveiled at an Apple event, and is likely to be designed as an accessory for the iPad Pro.
Integration of this chipset won’t be limited to iPad Pro. An earlier report highlighted that Apple could use the M4 chipset to revamp its entire Mac lineup, starting with the Mac mini. This model is expected to be launched in late 2024 or early 2025. Gurman also emphasized that Apple may launch all of its products as artificial intelligence devices, starting with the iPad Pro.
Gurman further reported that Apple may also brand the A18 chipset as artificial intelligence-driven, and the chipset is expected to be used in iPhone 16 Pro models. This statement is also backed up by multiple reports that highlight the company’s plans to introduce artificial intelligence features with iOS 18. .
